learned dependency

Hey ,

Want to know how to cure most of your problems?

Believe this:

“I create my reality.

I believe that I can fix this MYSELF and build a life that is beautiful and amazing…

Where I am completely utterly satisfied.”

Do this and you will solve most of your own problems.

If you believe you can fix anything?

Then you will fix everything.

The solutions to your problems likely won't be what WANT to do, but it will be the thing you NEED to do.

This is a shift that EVERY person makes to heal from their PTSD…

They shift from being a victim…from blaming others for all their problems…to taking ownership and responsibility and saying...

“It is up to ME to solve this…

And I CAN solve this…

I WILL solve this…

No matter what it takes.”

And if you have this attitude?

NOTHING will stop you.

And I mean that.

Don’t have this attitude?

No one and nothing can help you.

You’re doomed.

Sorry, but it takes moving out of the child-like dependent state of expecting others to solve all your problems to growing up and shouldering the responsibility of solving your own problems.

This doesn’t mean you can’t get help…I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help from others.

But I never EXPECTED or even desired someone else to heal me…

I always knew that at the end of the day it was up to me and my actions.

It’s kind of like the welfare system…

There are some people who expect others to take care of them and solve their problems….and have this child-like dependency on the government to give them food, shelter, jobs, and money…

I’m not saying it’s ALL bad…

There are people who go through genuinely hard times and helping people through a rough patch isn’t a bad thing…

But it turns bad when it breeds a culture of dependency and victimhood…

Many people get on these programs and STAY on them…because they expect people to subsidize and save them forever...

And instead of it being a short term “safety net” to help people get back on their feet…

It turns into a strange entitlement and strengthens the mindset that people NEED someone else to save them.

This parallels perfectly to the current mental health system…

Where people not only expect “free” help, whether through the government or their insurance...but then feel entitled to it...and then wholly dependent on it for their wellbeing.

(even though they never actually get to that state of wellbeing)

And again, I’m not saying free help or getting a provider through insurance is bad…

But it certainly shouldn’t be the ONLY thing you do to heal.

It shouldn’t be the ONLY thing you depend on.

Yes, take advantage of every resource you have, but don’t stop there…

Go to the library and start reading books…

Watch videos…

Learn the tools YOURSELF…

Take recovery into your OWN hands.

Why is this important?

Because if you’re getting this email, then you probably have PTSD, CPTSD, or trauma…

And its likely DESTROYING your life!

Most people DON'T take recovery seriously enough!

Partially because they're willfully blind and don't want to admit the pain they are in...

Or they don't believe that they can do it themselves...and have fallen victim to the culture of dependency...

Few people are telling you that YOU CAN DO IT.

But that’s why I’m here...to tell you that it IS possible to heal...

I didn't have anyone encouraging me...not even my friends or family.

We forged our own path.

We took ownership and responsibility for our healing.

We didn’t depend on a therapist or expert to save us.

We depended on OURSELVES.

We believed in OURSELVES.

And to heal YOU must do the same...

Believe in YOURSELF.

You don’t have to be at mercy to "the system"…you can use it, but you don’t have to be controlled by it.

Don’t let them kneecap your recovery and slow you down.

Live life on YOUR terms.

Give yourself permission to solve this on your own.

Have that chip on your shoulder...

And never give in until you succeed…

And I guarantee you will.
